Biting humour meets orchestral brilliance: Georg Kreisler rediscovered.
The world is turning faster and faster - but where is this progress taking us? The legendary musical cabaret artist Georg Kreisler posed these questions decades ago with inimitable acuity. The 5th highlight of the season, entitled "What more do you want?", is dedicated to the lesser-known but all the more brilliant chansons of this exceptional artist.
An evening full of contrasts Away from the great classics, hidden gems are put in the spotlight here. Curated with great sensitivity by Max Dollinger (Hanover State Opera), you will experience the entire spectrum of Kreisler's oeuvre:
- Satirical & sharp-tongued: Humorous-ironic observations of the human abyss.
- Dreamy & profound: Thoughtful, poetic moments that get under your skin.
- Interpretative brilliance: Experience Hans-Peter Struppe and Yvonne Reich, who lend these songs their very own, unmistakable character.
Kreisler in a symphonic guise A special highlight are the multi-faceted orchestral arrangements by Wolfgang Skill. Together with the Neue Lausitzer Philharmonie, he creates soundscapes between jazz and classical Viennese song. An evening that is not only entertaining, but also thought-provoking with Kreisler's timeless relevance.
