Silesian Night Reading
On 18 April 2026, the Silesian Night Reading will take place for the 13th time. Well-known personalities will read texts related to the region - Silesia, Lusatia and Görlitz-Zgorzelec - at around ten interesting and sometimes unusual locations. Visitors stroll from place to place and listen to short, approximately 20-minute presentations. The readers are usually well-known, charismatic people who are committed to the city and region in the cultural, economic or social field. The combination of location, text and personality of the reader(s) always offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in an inspiring cosmos of literary connections between yesterday and today.
On 18 April 2026, the RABRYKA youth culture centre will be the centre of the event. Other reading venues are located in the (post-)industrial neighbourhood, where the progress and entrepreneurial spirit of the 19th century can still be felt and seen. In keeping with this, texts will be read that convey different facets of the world of work and refer to typical regional professions of the past and present. We meet glassmakers, miners, winegrowers, winemakers, weavers, cloth manufacturers and industrialists, but also learn about unusual professions in the art industry, the criminal investigation department and the circus. From the region between Görlitz, Weißwasser and Grünberg, the texts take us all the way to Upper Silesia and Czech Silesia.
Strolling, listening, reflecting, enjoying - that is the essence of Silesian Night Reading. You are cordially invited!
