Fresh fish, magical street performances and the diversity of autumnal nature in the historic Schrotholz settlement!
When the historic Erlichthof bell rings in late summer, one of the region’s most beautiful traditions is heralded in Rietschen: the Erlichthof settlement warmly invites you to the 33rd Nature and Fishing Festival! Look forward to a real autumnal highlight full of experiences, delights and hands-on activities for young and old alike.
The day begins in a manner that is both traditional and spectacular: at around 9:00 am, the first fish haul of the day gets underway, marking the official start of the Erlichtteich fish harvest. Watch the fishermen at work as they practise their time-honoured craft and experience the bustling maritime atmosphere up close!
A festival for all the senses and the whole family: around the time of the fishing, the idyllic wooden house settlement transforms into a lively festival site with a packed programme:
- Large nature market & culinary delights: Stroll through the settlement, accompanied by the nostalgic sounds of the barrel organ player, Mr Pilz. Numerous traders invite you to marvel at, find out about and buy regional products. Refreshments – naturally featuring freshly caught fish specialities – are well and truly taken care of!
- Knowledge & Discovery: A special highlight is the fascinating mushroom exhibition by the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape Biosphere Reserve. Here you can learn all about the treasures of our local forests.
- Musical variety: In the morning, Michael Lindner will create a holiday atmosphere with salsa, son cubano, guitar and foot percussion, whilst from 13:00 the group “TAM TAM” will provide top-class entertainment and a festive atmosphere.
- Hands-on fun for kids: For our youngest visitors, the day will be a great adventure: cork crossbow shooting, learning about spiders, creative craft activities and pony rides ensure there’s no chance of boredom. In addition, the popular ERLICHTHOFGAUKLER will enchant the audience, and DHYANA will whisk the little ones away to a magical world with a fairy dance featuring glitter dust and soap bubbles.
